Monday (Meditation: I Timothy 6:7-10)
Dear God, money, health, success and being in control mean too much to me. I cling to them. It scares me even to THINK about losing them. If I could drop these addictions, what would my life be like? Would I feel scared and alone, or would I feel free? Would I be a misfit, or would I be a new, whole person, with more confidence? Would I be irresponsible, or would I be MORE responsive? God, dare I give up my addictions, and turn them over to You? In Jesus' name. Amen
Tuesday (Meditation: I Peter 1:3)
O God, Your Son humbled Himself by taking on the nature of a servant, and being obedient unto death, even to death on a cross. My days are the opposite. I try to make myself look good in the eyes of others. My yearning is for things advertised, for the latest trends that my crowd longs for. God, forgive my preoccupation with self. Help me to know that the greatest freedom and achievement in the world is to serve You. Thank You for the One Who sacrificed Himself for my sins, that I may have eternal life. Help me to humble myself, so I can serve all those whom You love. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Wednesday (Meditation: I Peter 1:6:7)
God, lift my heart above the small orbit of selfish wants. Lift my mind above the little commitments that have no lasting value. Lift my faith above petty indulgences. Lift my hope above unimportant fears. God, lift me to the center of Your love. Mold me, and make me, after Your will. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Thursday (Meditation: Mark 4:18-20)
God, I pray for those who are pressured and preoccupied with achievement ... for those whose tensions come from thinking only about themselves ... for those whose self-expectations occupy all the space in their soul ... for those whose ambitions make them feel trapped. God, help them to find a new perspective and a balance in their life, so their minds and hearts will find calm and compassion. Give them a desire to serve You and others. Through Jesus Christ, my Lord. Amen.
Friday (Meditation: Psalm 143:8-10)
Heavenly Father, I search in vain for fulfillment. It cannot be found in anything transitory. Nothing earthly lasts. The world cannot bring fulfillment. Life is incomplete until we find completeness in You. God, my heart is restless. Forgive me and help me to rest in You. Through Jesus Christ, my Lord. Amen.
