Loving Monday - Succeeding in Business Without Selling Your Soul

April 6th, 2016

John Beckett graduated from M.I.T. in 1960 and worked in the aerospace industry for three years before joining his father in a small family-owned manufacturing business. When his father died suddenly in 1965, John was thrust into the daunting task of running the family business. A few months later a fire almost destroyed the plant.

These events deeply shook John’s confidence. Though he needed God’s help, God seemed far away and John couldn’t get his mind around what people called a “leap of faith.” He wondered if he could ever be worthy of God anyway.

As challenges at work continued, John found himself discouraged and confused. Then, over the next few months, he says, “…quietly, persistently, I sensed God was drawing me to himself … someone would give me a helpful book, or I’d hear a speaker who would answer a key question … I realized there was but one step forward and it did require a step of faith.”

John released himself to God’s care—a turning point in his life with immense implications.

John now serves as chairman of the Beckett Corporation, and has helped guide the business to worldwide leadership in the manufacture and sales of engineered components for residential and commercial heating. The company, with its affiliates, currently has sales exceeding $100 million, with more than 600 employees.

An ABC News feature story described the company like this: "They are using the Bible as a guide to business."

In his book, Loving Monday: Succeeding in Business Without Selling Your Soul, John tells how he sought to practically integrate his faith and his work. He explains how the Bible’s time-tested truths can be applied faithfully and successfully in today's fast-paced, high-tech, market-driven world.

You can read the complete story of John’s faith journey in the 14-page booklet, Coming Home.

All of his books and resources are available his website, LovingMonday.com.
